I don't usually find lovely chunks of stone in charity shops but couldn't resist this piece of Labradorite. Far more glorious in person of course but you can see the flare well enough. It's almost totally black from other angles too so it's a super contrast.
Woollen bangle, crocheted. Not felted yet but might finish it that way. I like how it rights itself with the fuchsia mohair half hanging under the wrist but I might play with the balance yet.
I'm not sure where this piece is going but it's definitely not going to be left alone. My pieces always seems to juxtapose materials but in solitude. I'm working on it.
And, Kung Hei Fat Choi everyone!
I think it's a Silver Birch twig but any other ideas welcome. The little trees attached are certainly silver though.
Found the above just the other day. It's a brooch from a few years ago sadly never finished as we weren't allowed back into the workshop for our final session. That juxtaposition of wood with other media has been around a while for me it seems!
Now, for a little colour which is currently missing from this blog:
The last thing we need here is more materials but I couldn't resist those stripy 'pirate' sequins!
Yes, it would be better photographed on something other than white but you get the gist. I'm thinking pendant and might add pearls yet. Worked with a 1mm hook and vintage yarn bought recently.
