Much like the others, these were shop bought cupcakes decorated with ready made frosting. A little piping, edible sparkle and a homemade chocolate swoosh and ta-da, glam cup cakes are go!
For the record, I do not bake (much). I do, however, like to decorate things. And that does indeed include cupcakes but only for a special occasion. It's too much temptation otherwise!
I started making these rather large ones which but they take ages so made the next dozen a little smaller and taught myself to pipe nicely instead. Thank the internet for youtube.
Happy Birthday Amy!
When it comes to covering stones in a contrasting material, nature beat me to it! This is what an (almost) fresh nutmeg looks like. A little bit beautiful, a little bit Alien.
I knew that a little too much of the stuff was hallucinogenic but I didn't realise this apparently unassuming nut had such an intriguing back story. Please check out the link, it's a wonderful article with references to Christmas, pirates and toad-lickers!
Cyan, turquoise and jade.
(to the Trumpton tune)
And that is why I crochet instead of writing poems!
I still don't have a photo of it being modelled as the weather is letting us down here in the UK but I really did finish it a week or two ago.
The fabric is actually a very lovely lined, cotton skirt (from Per Una if you care) with a fabulously zingy print in coral pink through to red and brown for definition. I simply single crocheted a chain long enough when measured around her neckline and off I went. The beads were actually removed from the waistline of the skirt so nothing was wasted :-)
Not my usual thing but it kept my hooks busy, I upcycled and now my daughter has a beautiful one off frock. All happy!
If I do manage to get a decent shot of it being modelled, I'll be sure to not stand her up against the red wall! #worstcolourtoshoot
Yes, I'm stuck on a domestic project at the moment. It's that time of year when little girls want floaty dresses so I'm up-cycling a 'skirt-to-frock' for the 6 year old.
Non-pedestrian projects will benefit though as this is the first time I've actually crocheted with beads on the yarn within a pattern. Why has it taken me so long? It's easy!
