When I say 'work in progress' I'm pushing it a bit. This is actually a piece I started back in the '90's in my final year at university!
It's been stuck in a shoe box since then, waiting for some tlc. So, along comes my friend Sarah who is willing to let me use her peg. She even gave me tea too!
It isn't obvious but this is going to be a wall mounted vase and I'm trimming off the excess at the edge here.
Then the files came out! Unfortunately, it was late by then so I it's far from finished still.
Can you see up there, no skin under the peg! I tell her off every time ;-)
My best 'Twilight' impression.
Finally, I found my way into a workshop again, woo hoo! The delightful Sarah Wilkie allowed me into her space yesterday to create a pair of silver bangles that I've had jangling in the back of my mind for ages now.
Simple, knocked-about 3mm round wire, stamped with my kids names, nothing fancy. I can't begin to describe the satisfaction that this bit of 'smithing has brought me, thanks so much to the beautiful Sarah Wilkie (seen here at her bench) of seren-d for, once again, indulging me.
I met Sarah last year and on that first meeting she just gave me several semi-precious stones to work with because, well, she's just that kind of gal. She saw one of the covered bricks I'd made and thought her stones would be useful to me - how nice of her was that? She was right too although it did encourage me to go and spend 3 figures in the mineral shop days later. Thanks Sarah!
