It was back in the 90's when I was studying that I first saw Ann's metal work which was rather dark and mysterious. I remember being in awe because her work was on the cover or the British 'Crafts' magazine whilst also being surprised that she came from rural Wales, not so far from me. Now though, after an amazing recovery from a dreadful accident she works in a rather different way. Of course, she also does artist-in-residence work and came to our local welsh language school where they made the butterflies above.
After a little discussion with the attendant we decided that we could make similar at home by simply gluing a layer of tin foil onto a thin card backing. Cheaper and a little less dangerous than letting them cut aluminium itself. We might try it before the end of the holidays, time permitting.
I'm not sure who was more excited to see the one she made (yes, that one there *points*), me or my daughter!
